The dedicated user is the only one I can think of. I'm not too keen on using a personal token with 'repo' access, and it means that this token is available in plaintext to anyone on our LAN

Is there any option (short of creating a dedicated user for this) to enable read only access to a selection of private repositories belonging to an organization?

I'm setting up a CI server at work. Up to now I've been using a personal access token with 'repo' access. Which means that it has read and write access to all my public and private repositories.
